Drawing inspiration from current and past conceptual designers, this project explores the process of translating a two dimensional image into a three dimensional outcome. Combining the methods of flat pattern cutting with ‘Moulage’, which is modelling fabric directly onto a garment stand or body shape; known as Draping, the natural characteristics and outcomes of the fabric are explored to recreate designers work. Using a photographic reference of a Vivienne Westwood garment, a pattern and final toile was produced, using suitable fabrics and appropriate cutting techniques.
